Why
Why?
As I browse here through the archives I can see some names are gone
and I feel a little sadness that my old friends have moved on.
Why I ask myself now do we let these problems come about?
surely we are old and wise enough, to sort our problems out!
Politics and poetry is not a healthy thing to mix
and the damage from the fallout near impossible to fix.
It takes courage to admit now that perhaps mistakes were made
and some things then said and done, were just a trifle overplayed?
What has this achieved I wonder now; what good has all this done?
Surely there were better ways than this, as no one really won.
Taking sides is not the answer, as one sided views just blind
and instead of solving problems, we’ve left common sense behind.

Re: Why
I think the last line says it all Terry, I am not on these sites anywhere nearly as much as I used to be but that is for a number of reasons... the politics on here are not among them either. I still don't know what the fight is all about or who it is between ...not me anyway as far as I know!

Re: Why
Yep!! You'll notice those who came in by Bluff (and lots of it), Bluster and then Bullshit are nowhere to be seen.
Damage done, they went slinking off into the sunset, in their wake - destruction of an ABPA poetic community ...
Treacherous cowards.

Re: Why
Perhaps you've put your finger on it, Terry. The internet is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, it puts people in touch with each other who would not be able to communicate otherwise. On the other hand, we are told that 90% of communication is non-verbal, yet the internet does not allow that - at least not yet. One day it probably will.

Re: Why
Assumptions are interesting. I have just travelled through the rainy sunset back from a wonderful weekend in Binalong where the ABPA poetic community is alive and well. We are people from many states coming together to share a love of bush poetry in the spirit of mutual respect. Proud to be part of that! RT

Re: Why
It would appear that Rhonda believes that I should have moderated the post by Manfred on this thread ?
I did not because I considered that his views were just his opinion and no one was named in the post. It would appear also that Rhonda does not think me capable of performing the duties of a moderator on the site as per the attached e mail. Which I assume has been sent to the other moderators as well.
Dear Bob
I’m a little bewildered as to why you have not ‘moderated’ the post on the ABPA Forum from Manfred Vijars on the ‘Why’ thread which refers to me, Tom McIlveen and Hal Pritchard as ‘treacherous cowards’ amongst other defamatory comments? We are obviously the ‘targets’ and the comments are defamatory, a risk to the integrity of the ABPA and quite obviously a clear violation of the ‘rules of use’ that are agreed to before use. I barely know Mr. Vijars and do not appreciate being slandered in his posts.
Again, if you have trouble ‘moderating’ the posts of certain people, please let the Forum Administrators know via the President’s email and your right can be discontinued.
Thank you for your co-operation
Kind regards
Rhonda – ABPA Secretary

I have no problems moderating comments by anyone on the forum where I think appropriate but as it appears others do not think I am capable then I have sent an e mail to The president asking that my moderators rights be removed forthwith.
Cheers Bob Pacey

Re: Why
Hi Rhonda, no, I never referred the three you mentioned.
However since you feel that the above three are 'obvious', then your post is duly noted - and saved.
Kind regards,
Manfred W. Vijars.

Re: Why
No problem Manfred but I'm sure most sensible people were well aware of the intent and the mischief. I'm over it! No more comments required. And yes, all posts are saved.

Re: Why
The ABPA Executive would like to remind all ABPA members that, firstly, in registering: “You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws…” and, secondly, in the introduction to the forum: “Posts will be removed if deemed to be offensive, inflammatory or in any way derogatory to the ABPA, the ABPA Committee or individuals. It is expected that this position be respected by all, for the benefit of all." Access to the ABPA Forum is not an automatic right and may be withdrawn at any time regardless of a person’s membership status if the above rules are contravened either by direct statement or inference.
