Bob,

We’ll find out tonight how the football gods vote
and one side will surely be sad
the winners will say what a jolly good game
the losers will say - we’ve been had.
Reynolds will kick the hot air from the ball
thus making your Darius scurry,
our massive front row will hit you with force
so causing poor Kevin to worry.
Gallen is gallant, he’ll lead from the front
the Blue’s back is safe with our Matt,
Walker can handle the great GI
and that, as they say, will be that!

Congratulations QLD - we were not 'had', just outplayed. Well done!

State Of OriginTwo 2016

They told us it was coming they said it would be rough.
And the first half it was torrid as both teams hung in tough.
The forwards led the charges up and down that hallowed field.
No one prepared to give a meter no one would bend or yield.

A penalty to Queensland and Thurston put one on the board.
The Blues quickly squared the ledger for the swarming cockroach hoarde.
Two more each and it was even but the Blues they set the pace.
Fast play the balls and offloads and my heart it starts to race.

The blues had all the running but Queensland were hanging tough.
they took all they could throw at them and would never cry enough.
Then a wayward pass from Jennings and the cane toad crowd did roar.
as Gagai sprinted down the touch line to outpace Frizell and score.

And Thurston Bloody Thurston does this champion ever miss.
slots the conversion from the sideline and I could see Gallen was.....
The half time hooter sounded and the lead was ten to four.
I grabbed another xxxx stubbie then I settled in for more.

I thought the Blues would fire up but Cam Smith was in control.
Then Fifita dropped that pass from Kemler and Queensland went on a roll.
Thurston weaved his magic and Boyd he fairly flew.
A perfect pass to Gagai and the winger had his two.

Another Thurston goal from out wide and the points were building fast.
then bloody Reynolds split the front line and Frizell he went in fast.
The blues were on the charge now but Thurstons class you can’t deny.
A deft kick down the sideline and Gagai had another try.

The Blues were on the rack but then against the run of play.
a knock back off a kick from Gagai saw Maloney sprint away.
Under the sticks he scored it then Jennings almost pressed that ball.
But the crowd was screaming Queenslander with our backs against the wall.

And champions don’t let games slip and there would be no turning back.
Oates dived over in the corner and the cue was in the rack.
Another Queensland victory eleven series out of ten.
The futures looking great for this champion team of men.

So now it’s on to Sydney
a clean sweep is not a dream
we will see the roaches team of champions
Smashed by Queenslands Champion Team.

Queenslander

All good again. The red wine and vallium batter on my fried chicken helped calm the nerves. Another great origin poem Bob and I enjoyed reading Owly's contributions. Good poems both.

Thanks Wazza Yes a good win but the job is not done until we squash a few roaches in the last game.
