AS SILENTLY YOU SIT

Post by Cropduster » Mon Feb 22, 2016 11:24 am

AS SILENTLY YOU SIT

Go make your plans and map your lives, it's what we humans do.
I trust the seeds you plant will all bear fruit.
But understand the tree of life from which the fruit is borne,
will wither if you fail to feed it's root.
Our future plans are all but dreams, desires we hold dear.
At times they sadly just get in the way,
preventing us from seeing and acknowledging the worth
of what is real, of what we have today.
For life lies in the present, there is only here and now,
'tis all with any certainty there is.
What's gone before is memory, or written in a book
to learn at school or recall for a quiz.
No visitation we will make, no travelling through time,
for time has neither land nor sea to cross.
To focus on the future, or to linger in the past
will just be to your detriment, your loss.
So open wide your eyes, my friend, and see what I can see.
Just listen and you'll hear what I can hear.
Come feel the warmth upon your skin, the bite of winter's chill,
take in the sweet perfume of new spring air.
Rejoice in nature's beauty, in the laughter of a child.
Go dance with gay abandon in the rain.
Set free your mind to capture all the wonders that abound
the exotic, the bizarre and the mundane
Just close your eyes and sit a while, and take in your surrounds
It may surprise you, what you hear and feel
I promise you'll experience, as silently you sit
life in its purest form, so very real.

Really lovely Allan - left me with a smile on my face. Just the other night I sat out front of my house, overlooking the trees, watching the birds being busy in those last few minutes of daylight and breathing it all in - the air, the smell of autumn, the light, the colour. Life's grand. :D

Good to hear, Heather.

There is beauty all around us all the time. It's just that so few people care to look, listen and experience it. :D

I actually read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, it fried my brain, but I won't dance with gay abandon in the rain or anywhere else
I try and find a quiet moment...... while the hoons are doing donuts and the trail bikes are tearing up the street. :)

Thank you, Catherine.

Neville - perhaps you would rather Shake a Tail Feather, or if the hoons have taken over the street, maybe the Bus Stop
