Monday bloody Monday I was feeling really tired
The Cowboys beat the Broncos what a bloody hide.
So I went to drown my sorrows down at the local club
Have a beer and play the pokies and perhaps a bit of grub.

The beer was cold the girls were nice so I settled in to play
I chatted with some locals just to pass the time of day.
One hundred went so quickly but I'm a single bloke
I've got money in my pocket so I'm not really broke.

When I had hit two hundred I thought this is just a joke
but then I hit the free games and really went for broke.
I raised the stakes and chased my loss well what else could I do
I've still got lots of bills to pay and free games are so few.

The games just kept on coming it was like they flicked a switch
Five hundred flashed upon the screen and my fingers start to twitch
Do a Kenny Rodgers some bloke looked at me and said
Know when to hold or fold em mate, he's not right in the head.

I upped the outlay once again and reckoned I could win
five bucks would go on every spin oh mate it was a sin.
A faint heart wins no fair maiden so I really went to work
Five emblems lined in sequence and the machine then went berserk.

The music started playing and the coins flew on the screen
the other players looked in awe cause the emblems were all green
One thousand plus eight hundred was the total that I won
and add to that five hundred from the first win I was done.

They tell me you can't win a lot and machines are never true
but I tell ya that I brought a drink for all the pokes crew.
I reckon it was fate ya know and the win was really hot
the only problem is that now the tax mans got the lot.

Oh I had a win all right Mausie then got my tax done and got a bill for $ 1900 but well it is their money I'm using to pay it.
