SOLITUDE MOMENTS

Post by Cropduster » Fri Sep 25, 2015 6:54 am

SOLITUDE MOMENTS

In darkness before morning sun has arisen,
before family members have stirred,
in the light of the screen from a desk top computer
I sit and I write my first word.
I treasure those hours, those solitude moments
alone when one's thoughts become clear.
It lets the mind wander in different directions,
a rudderless ship without steer.
Allowing one's mind to drift free on an ocean
of memories, thoughts and regard.
To cast wide a net for a poet gone fishing
to catch, keep, release or discard
those words and those phrases, when married together,
that sing to the heart and the mind.
So sleep on my friend, I'll try not to disturb
In my search for the words I must find.

I suppose that's the paradox of the writer, it is necessary to engage with others to experience life and it is necessary to get alone to write about it.

That is truly beautiful Allan. You took me there and I relished those secret private moments.

(Albeit spoilt by the thought of an enlarged prostrate!) Probably a bit of an overshare there Bobbity.

Thank you Heather. It is nice to know that my words able to take you there. Those moments alone are often the best part of the day.

Thank you Sue. I too relish those moments, although it would be nice to be able to sleep in occasionally.
