CATS

Post by Neville Briggs » Sat Sep 19, 2015 11:44 am

CATS

There is no creature round here, that
is quite as awful as a cat.
So sly and slinky, sabre clawed,
they strut as haughty as a lord.

Those purring preening parasites
whose phantom footsteps haunt the night
will still come round to freeload, where
they commandeer your favourite chair.

Why won't they look you in the eye?
Theirs is the secret, they know why,
do cats take part in dark devotions;
stir boiling blackened witches' potions.

Flesh stripping tongues will never tell
where marble eyes have cast their spell.
Ruthless and cruel.
That's why cats rule.

True enough. Never warmed to them myself.

Thanks Stephen, Maureen.
Not necessarily my personal manifesto.
A theme I took to attempt to use some poetic devices and see how they turned out.

A good friend of mine Rita Treka ( who sadly passed away a couple of years back ) used to perform a poem called " does Your Pussy Go A Roaming "

It was about the scourge of feral cats of course !

one day I will post it if I can ever get her daughter to send it to me.

This is Rita in one of her recycled clothing outfits.

Enjoyed this Neville - I love poems about animals, and despite their myriad personalities, this of course is very true regarding the overall attitude of cats!
