Homework WE 15/6/15 - The Winter Cup

Post by Shelley Hansen » Wed Jun 03, 2015 4:31 pm

The Winter Cup
(c) Shelley Hansen 3/6/15

They’re off and racing! Arctic Sun is shining at the rail,
but close behind and challenging – the mighty Iron Nail.
A breath of wind – as Sudden Chill is bringing up the rear,
while down the outside Bitten Flesh is starting to appear.
Blue Frost, the gelding, shows his stride – his body lithe and young -
but past the post, by just a nose – the winner, Frozen Tongue!

I like that you've thought of a different angle Shelley - that's always fun.

Nothing like Winter Racing unless you happen to be the horse - great fun poem Shelley - well done and what an innovative use of the prompts. Good for you

Thank you everyone! Not exactly Shakespeare, but we are in it for fun, after all :)

I think I'll leave the greyhounds alone, Bob - not the most auspicious sport at the moment, is it? I confess, it was horses I had in mind when I wrote the poem.
