Speaking of competitions, it's great to see that the North Pine Bush Poets (a group which includes some very well-known names!) is offering a separate performance section for those who prefer to read their poems. That's a terrific idea, one that's been discussed and supported here, so I hope it attracts heaps of interest from people who might otherwise avoid the performance stage. And if those of you up around that area need any more encouragement to get along, the Saturday night concert features Glenny and Greg North. What more could you ask for?

There are also writing and performance workshops. Dates: 22nd to 24th August. Details are in the events section of this website.

The only other thing I'd ask is that other competition organisers consider following suit with regard to the reading option...let's hope it's the start of a successful trend.

Just as a side line.

A very well known "Bush Poetry" competition section was last year judged by a contemporary local poet which explains why I thought the winning entries were rubbish. Just to be sure (to be sure) I asked oh, lets say,one of our esteemed forum members to examine my misgivings. No doubt left then. How tough is that on people who put hours of work into perfecting their craft?
