Norma

Post by Bob Pacey » Thu Apr 10, 2014 6:27 am

My older sister works in admin at the local base hospital and she assures me this really happened.

A sweet grandmother Telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital. She timidly asked, "Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said, "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number of the patient?"

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, Norma Findlay, Room 302."

The operator replied, "Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse's station for that room."

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said,
"I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back normal and her Physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow."

The grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful. I was so worried. God bless you for the good News."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?"

The grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me shit."

I have no trouble believing that it is a true story. That's how they treat old people, they underestimated her didn't they.

Nuh, I don't believe a word of it. For one, the hospital would never admit to having a patient by that name because it would be against their privacy policy... :)

Whenever I ring a hospital asking after a patient I'm simply put straight through to the patient. I think she would have ended up talking to herself - not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

Hey Bob, don't ya love it when you post funny story or joke and people 'analyse' it? Talk about killing the punchline!!!! I thought it was pretty bloody funny, but now it looks like I may have to run it past the legal team for the Minister Of Health before I can laugh at it :( !!!!!
