The Crossing Place
Trying something new here. Would welcome comments - if you don't like it that's ok too. What does it make you think? How does it make you feel?

Re: Minted Waters
Reminds me of Yeats. Nice. I think from memory Henry Lawson did it too.

Re: Minted Waters
Funny you should say that Stephen because I was reading a bit of Yeats poetry today- but I didn't base this poem on anything he wrote.
Did "it"?

Re: Minted Waters
Yes, I thought you might pick me up on that. I guess just the theme of a child drowning in a pool. For Yeats it was "The Lost Child", and for Lawson it was "The Water Lily". I think.

Re: Minted Waters
Sorry. Yeats was "The Stolen Child". I first heard it as a song. Very haunting. Can't remember who it was, but it might come to me.

Re: Minted Waters
OK. Now I've got it. It was "The Waterboys". Check it out if you get a chance - absolutely fantastic.

Re: Minted Waters
I always assumed "The Water Lily" was a re-working of "The Stolen Child".

Will check it out Stephen.
Maureen I have deliberately left the story for you to make something of it...
It is an experiment and I wanted to try a different rhyming scheme to anything else I've ever tried. It is not meant to tell you the whole story - although it describes something that happened to me.....the mystery deepens
