G'day Maureen,

I wanted to reduce its size a bit, it shows up all my mistakes.....LOL  ! I was wondering if a kind monitor can reduce the file size so it fits the screen nicely? I don't seem to be able to reduce it at my end.

Thanks much

PHIL

There you are Phil. That is a bit easier to see.

I like the poem. It has a lot going for it I reckon. You say it is not correct technically, well the more I try to learn about poetry, the more I find that I am not sure what technically correct might mean. :)

To the horror of those on this site I would believe that your poem would be much better without the constant end rhymes. Just my opinion.
I think stanzas 2,4,6, and 7 are particularly good and would be better if you were not straining some of the language to gain a rhyme.

Also a couple of picky bits. the horses drinking container is one of those odd words spelled trough but pronounced troff. :)
In stanza 7. " old men did play games " please I beg you make it " old men played games "

And I know Newington Inn, but I was never a college boy  . The problem in that area is the dreadful traffic pollution that is Stanmore Road. Doesn't the memory of that ease your homesickness.

Corgi/Jack Russell X Robere    Doubtless female as it is standing back letting the old fellow find his own way as she knows it is useless giving men directions, they never take any notice. ;)

G'day All,

Oh, I do take directions, however yeah, I'm very stubborn so people say. As far as the drawing is concerned, I'm still learning how to work the confounded computer program. This image is a very early draft with lots of mistakes. I was able in times past to draw by hand. But getting "it" to jive with the WWW and the size is a problem. Seems every web site I go to has its quirks with image size etc... But a few more sketches might make things better quality wise.

As far as the Newington Inn is concerned, yeah the traffic is a problem in the area. Its like playing Russian Roulette leaving the car park esp at 3:30 to 4:30 pm making a right. Newington College is up the road a bit toward Newtown and I was not a student there. My parents didn't have the connections nor money to send me there. Maybe I would have turned out different who knows.... My school is now the college for the arts.........go figure.

I'm always home sick, its very tough being where I am. I'm stuck in tea-bragger territory here and its full of so called connected good ol'd boys. Its been a real eye opener to say the least. Australia is the best country in the world......please remember that.

Well thanks all for the kind comments and I hope to do much better.............I don't know for how long though.

PHIL
