Obedience

Post by Bob Pacey » Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:13 pm

Obedience

(Written by Edna Greenough).

Children always do your work,
Do it well, and do not shirk;
When it's finished then you may go
and play among the hay,

When your mother says, 'Do that,'
Hurry straight away and get your hat,
Then go and do what you were told,
And there'll be no need to scold.

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

It sounds like the rhythm of the song " Brother come and dance with me " a very famous children's song from the opera Hansel and Gretel. The first two lines are exactly that metre.

Although if that is so, your grandmother has not used the rhythm change which goes " let your hands go clap clap clap, let your feet go tap tap tap ".

Very interesting to see the possible influence on a young person's verse.

Not bad for 13 yr old. :)
