Beautiful Matt and I particularly like these lines
And how can the diamond that blunts the knife
survive the grind of an obvious life;
where the facets are few and the brilliants are sent
for tokens
Nice rhyming sequence also - works well, with the first and last line of each stanza

Should this line - know a cruel never hook could be. perhaps have been know a cruel hook never could be

A very well crafted piece Matt.
Added this to my favorites. Very meaningful.

Cheers

Good on ya Matt. Very well written. Have you ever heard of an Australian ( bush?) poet named John Shaw Neilson ( well he was a bush man certainly )

I think you would enjoy his writing, you are on a similar line to him I think.

There's a very famous saying from Jesus' teaching about how one day " the first will be last and the last will be first " The A-Listers who have walked over people's faces to get there, will one day be relegated to the also-rans, and those honest folk who have been considered the mere plebs will be elevated to recognition.

hope I'm on the right track ;)

Matt...Since Bob Dylan is Jewish I suppose that is a start, all he has to do now, is get crucified, buried and rise from the dead in three days and his Messianic credentials are assured . ;) :) The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Good to see you posting Matt. I like the way you use strong phrases, and in my view you have taken time and effort to find the most effective words, not just words that merely rhyme or fit the metre. Puts a bit of spine into the verse. I think that's something for all our friends here to take notice and work towards.

G/day Matt,
Thought provoking mate,

Working my way slowly home along the south coast of WA - very good fishing all along here.

Caught a few nice Brownies up in the Snowies, pity you couldn't have wet a line with me, maybe next trip.

Cheers Terry
