i BELIEVE IN ANGELS
I dreamed a dream - so long ago. It was obscure how could I know
what my dream was telling, I was but a child.
It told of worldwide sadness in a world gone wild.
I dreamt of angels white as snow and I heard voices murmuring slow.
I heard voices of children; I heard voices of pain,
I heard a woman weeping her sorrow quite in vain.
I dreamed a dream - so long ago, of red blood staining the fields of snow.
I heard the thunder and the battle roar
but knew it not , I’d no knowledge of war.
I saw a mother hold in her arms, her first born child who had been harmed.
I saw her tears fall down withered cheeks,
moved to help her, she could not speak.
There was a child - with bare brown feet. Dressed in rags, not smelling sweet.
His brown eyes were haunted, his stance alarmed.
No one there to hold him. Who had this child harmed?
I dreamed a dream – the world was new. The snow was white and there were few
little tear stained faces, smiles were everywhere.
No children were hungry, every child had care.
Was it a dream - I dreamt last night? Peace round the world, no wars to fight.
No more drought or famine or pestilence I found.
The whole world rejoicing. Love was all around.
I dreamed a dream – so long ago, it was obscure how could I know
what my dream was telling to me in my sleep.
Today I know sadly why those mothers weep.
I believe in angels - I know they are there ,
guiding those who’ve passed on – offering their care
I believe in angels, I believe in love
you perhaps just see clouds hovering above.
I dreamed a dream
I dreamed a dream.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
