Well, my ghost poem was entered at Cervantes so your ghost poem beat it! Good on ya! :D It's funny how the same poem can win first place in one comp and win diddly-squat in the next, hey? Are you going to post your poem for us to read, or are you keeping it under wraps for a while longer? I'm sure it'll be a good 'un.

Hi Kym,
Mine was also entered in the one you won and it missed out there, but I reckon it's good that judges have differing tastes just like the rest of us, that's why you can bomb out in one and win the next. Yours was a little more prestigious than mine Kym.

Ah Bob, quit your complaining - you got in the RM Williams magazine and they won't even answer my emails! I thought they could at least have the manners to reply ... I wonder if I'm using the correct email address???

Hi Kym,
Sorry I didn't fully answer your question, yes I will post it, I was just waiting for the results.
By the way my Cervantes version was slightly different to the one I entered in the Hunter one, It was one stanza less for starters.
I suppose you would say It's a real bush type poem.

G'day the three of you.

Hearty congratulations to you all. I fully appreciate the time and effort that goes into a prize winning poem. You have succeeded each in a different area but all worthy winners. Sometimes it must be so difficult for a judge to decide between some of the top two or three poems. If I were running a comp I would have three judges and a point scoring system that was the final decider on the outright winner. This should deliver a non biased result. It goes without saying that, as is usually the case, anonymity is vital.

I thought I would be able to pick who some of the more prolific writers were, - but I had the task of being a judge on a panel earlier in the year and I had no idea who the authors were. The poems I chose for first, second and third turned out to be some of our well known members but I couldn't guess who. It was surprising that all three judges chose the same four poems as their top four. Goes to show that the cream will always rise to the top.

Hi Kym,
That poem was one of the most moving poems I think I have ever read. I loved it when they read it out at Morissett and I just bawled my way through reading it now. Beautiful writing! I do believe we sometimes have a "helping hand" with some poetry, as we can't always explain where it comes from.
