Sheez Darren 10 days last week? I wish we could’ve got 10 days in a week when we were up there we would have been able to see many more poets. I dunno some blokes get all the luck.

Sorry Dave, I thought Queensland had adopted the metric week. My mistake. I thought their theory was if they had a ten day week there would be at least one day in every week with sunshine!

I know they had a lot of trouble when Sir Joh left this earth. Many people believed the sun would never shine up there again. I was reliably informed that the reason they would not introduce daylight savings is because Sir Joh would not get up an hour earlier for anyone.

Was a great weekend in Bundy (as always). I'm a bit worried though, cos after the comp was over, I dropped Heather off in front of Sandy's house cos they always have a get-together/bbq afterwards and I took off for home cos I had a four hour drive and didn't want to drive more than necessary in the dark. Didn't occur to me until about an hour later, that there probably wasn't anyone at Sandy's house yet ... poor Heather would have stood all on her lonesome til someone else arrived!!! Heather, are you ok? Are you still talking to me????? Sorry about that ...

Anyway, a big congratulations to Heather on her HC. I can't remember all of the results, but the overall winner was David Campbell. Sandy read out his poem and there were quite a few tears in the audience. Congratulations to you too David.

I think Rita Diplock got second, and I can't for the life of me remember who got third, but Ellis Campbell got 2 HC's. I think Heather was more excited about seeing her name beside Ellis' name than her certificate!

Heather was at my place for two and a half days, unfortunately I had to work a lot of the time, but the dogs were more than happy to keep her company as she read on the patio. We did have a couple of mini-adventures - we drive into hippy country to buy chickens, found a cow-udder plant, took some beautiful ocean photos, bushfire smoke over the mountains photos and fog beneath the mountains photos. Did a couple poems at Bob's campfire evening, and our poems weren't "boring" as Heather described previously. I'm sure they were entertaining, even though not hilarious like Bob's and I think the audience appreciated the time to give their face muscles a relax before Cyclone Bob had them laughing again. And of course, the fine dining at the fish shop was an event to be remembered. Mind you, the Thai next door redeemed Yeppoon's reputation, yum!

I'll be down in Melbourne in September, so look out Old Melbourne Gaol, me and Heather are comin'!!!

Yes Darren you’re right, Metric week! Good one, we had to go all the way to Cooktown to get any decent weather and it was well worth the trip the company up there is great as well as the sunshine,
We could do with being up there now though, if we are lucky today the temperature might reach 10 deg and the rain is falling in hard round lumps of ice.

Heather did you have a good time? I knew you would, congrats on your H C. Kym’s nice to be with hey and tells good poems and that Bobs a real showman “A”.

Dave it is no better here. We are back to having cold wet winters after 10 years of drought. Some of the recent arrivals to the area are wondering what has hit them.

I looked at the 4 day forecast while I was in Brisbane for Kilmore and the expected top was 8 or 9 degrees every day. The overnight lows were 1 and 2. I really didn't want to come back as 20 was much more acceptable. I think you feel it more with age. I never minded walking to school with ice in the puddles and sub zero temperatures. To be driven to school was a luxury and only occured when it was raining so much that there was a risk of drowning. It seems like nobody walks to school anymore. The traffic jams at school times in Kilmore with Assumption College, The International School and two primary schools is terrible. If you can avoid being on the roads at that time of day, you do.

Heather arrives back tonight at about 7:30 tonight. I will be heading down to pick her up soon (maybe!). It has been quite peaceful while she has been away.

just walked in the door not long ago. Left the caravan park at 10am and arrived in Melbourne 7.45pm and in the door just after 9pm. It's been a long, long day - but I'm here.

Just read this thread before I trot off to bed to sleep for a week to recover. Bundy was FANTASTIC! Enjoyed every minute (except those minutes when I awoke before dawn and had to wait for the sun to come up to get warm).

It was great to meet lots of crazy poet people and the event was run perfectly and professionally. Well done Bundy Poets!! Never laughed so much in my life. If you haven't been before, get in for next year. It was terrific to see all the poets reciting their poetry - they are all so clever and so brave and very entertaining.

I thought i could bring David's nice lantern back with me and look after it for a little while but my case nearly got rejected at the airport for being too full as it was.

I'm too tired to keep reading and typing so will catch up with posey world tomorrow if I wake up....yawn

I am going to start a book on when she will make her 2000th post. It was only a little while ago she hit 1000 and now it is nearly 1600. No she doesn't have a life outside of poetry anymore!

She nearly ran to the computer when we got home and then she couldn't get onto the Internet..... She made me fix it after hours and just refused to pay the associated costs. Her head was dropping onto the keyboard so she dragged herself off to bed. Probably won't surface till lunch time. All that wing flapping on the way home plum tuckered her out!

She couldn't stop talking in the car about all the fun in Bundy and all the great people she met.

I was the same when I got home Darren and I was only away for three days but what better addiction can you have then Bush poetry.


Heathers right I met some great people ( Heather up front there ) and revisited some old friends. Seen some different ( Greg North ) ways of presenting poetry and some pearlers like Bill Kearns ( The Floater ) as well.

Back to the grind now but it took me all day to come down off the high or that could have been the sewerage fumes.

Surley Heather can not reply to every post that went up while she was away ???? WANNA BET.
