That's a good one Marty. Since this is a poetry workshop
I'll make a couple of comments, not because I'm an expert but just as it comes across to me as a learner.
I like the way it is clear. Clarity I believe is important in writing.
I think you have maintained energy and movement throughout, if you know what I mean, it doesn't get bogged down.
There is a lot of concrete imagery in details, things named, which I think makes this writing lively.
You seem to have made some of the metre a bit irregular, the sticklers would cavil at that. I think it gives interest and variety, adds to the movement, works for me.
That's why I say, a good one.
p.s. I had to look up tourmaline.

Good stuff, Marty! My wife worked in childcare and was always encouraging the kids to play outside and get dirty, messing around in a sandpit (this was in the city) and playing with water etc. She was regularly confronted by parents who were absolutely horrified at the thought of their little darlings getting a splash of mud on hands or clothes.
Cheers

Good one Marty! I saw the other day on TV (so it must be right!) that the typical Aussie kid spends 52 hours per week in front of an electronic device and 40 minutes per week outdoors. The clever scientific person being interviewed said it was thought this trend was leading to reduced physical health and mental cognitive ability (who would have thought??!!??)
The other problem is poor immunity because they are not being exposed to dirt (you know, the stuff we played in). And when we got thirsty from tearing around, we didn't lurch to the nearest can of coke in the fridge. We drank from the tap on the tank or the garden hose!!
Cheers, Shelley
