Well Bob,

My heart says yes, but the fact that the baby would probably have needed shoes in those days, I don't think I would. I would not let her suffer though. A swift end and lots of tears would have followed.

What happened in face was, we had to give her away because we moved into town and she kept going back to the old mining camp where we had lived the previous two and a half years. I was spending time and petrol ever second day going to get her and at the time I had two babies under 18 months old. We asked the bloke on the neighbouring claim if he could take her and he was only too happy to. He cared for her and even let her sleep inside at the foot of his bed until she died of old age. Gees, mate, you have me all teary eyed just thinking about her. Good old Blue, there was never another one.

I agree Zondrae some dogs are special I have a picture in the cabinet of the last one Annie. But all the rest are just as special.

Little Dog, Misty, Beauty, Bella, Sam, Lady, and my current three Jacky, Jazz, and of course Jinny.

Dogs have such a special place in our lives, and we remember them all...the dogs of our childhood we grew up with, then the dogs we choose ourselves in adulthood (or do they choose us?)

The first dog I could truly call my own was a deerhound named Bandit, and he was 2 year old when we got him.

At the moment we have a half-human border collie named Floss. She is so smart...if only she had opposable thumbs..

If I ever spent enough time at home, I'd have another deerhound at the drop of a hat.

....you can here Bob, we have 2 big dogs...rotty X...they are the guard dogs and we just got a little inside dog...(never thought I 'd see the day I would sit with a little dog on my lap....inside too!) All you have to do is get a kennel licence, about 80 bucks, that pretty much covers the rangers time to come and inspect your premises to make sure you have adequate room, watering facilities, shade and secure fences....I have no problem with that...I think that lets you have up to 6 dogs.
