I’ve got a tale to tell ya
about an Aussie icon.
It’s been around since Pardon won the cup.
It’s not that smart to look at,
won’t find pictures inside ‘Vogue’,
but Aussie’s worth their salt will hold it up
as something truly worthy
of standing side by side
with Pharlap, Bondi Beach, the Holden Car;
with Vegemite, Pavlova, Ned Kelly, Ginger Meggs;
Hills Hoist, Victa Mower, Malvern Star.
You’ll find it at the footy.
You’ll find it at the beach.
Wherever rivers run and mountains rise.
In the cities, in the outback,
no matter where you look,
you’ll see Aussies making love to hot meat pies.
