ETERNITY

ETERNITY

He sits on the front porch just biding his time
for time is now all he has left.
The bedroom is empty, the cupboard is bare,
he sits now alone and bereft.
The creaking of timbers, they mimic his bones
as he rises and ventures to hide.
The world cannot reach him, outside can't beseech him
while he's foetusly curled up inside.

She waits there in Heaven, just biding her time
for time is eternally hers.
Awaiting arrivals to seek out her loved one
until the reunion occurs.
She feels free of pain, no discomfort, no grief
though she longs for that piece of her heart
that's attached to another's, her soul mate's, her lover's
and she pines every day they're apart.

The bond of true love reaches far and beyond
the realms of our mortal constraints.
the colours and depth of a love's deepest well
is beyond what the renaissance paints.
For when souls are moulded, as one they're entwined,
remaining shall they ever be.
Not death nor destruction will tear them apart,
not now, nor for eternity.

Sadness, love and hope all rolled into one - nicely done Alan.
