Bush Fever

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Thu Mar 28, 2013 2:48 pm

Bush Fever

(with apologies to John Masefield)

I must go out in the bush again. I've missed it, I confess,
And all I ask is a full tank, and a decent GPS,
And the fan's hum, and the radio, and the four wheels spinning,
And some jam buns, and a coffee cup as day-light is beginning.

I must go out in the bush again, for the call of the eucalypt
Is a wild call and a clear call, beyond some mundane script;
And all I ask is a sunny day with a light dew clinging,
And a blue sky and a fresh breeze, and the magpies singing.

I must go out in the bush again, for a hike on a narrow track,
With a broad hat, and some good shoes, and a pack upon my back,
And all I ask, when the day's done, and I've begun to tire,
Is a good mate and a billy boiled around a blazing fire.

How does one go about boiling a mate - do you suggest carrots or onion? Personally I would have thought that goat and long pig boiled together would have been a bit of over kill, but to each his own :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Sorry Stephen I couldn't resist :oops:
