Kids In Bush Poetry

Post by Bob Pacey » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:46 pm

For those who think kids are not interested in Bush Poetry.

I got 114 yes 114 junior bush poets at the park tomorrow night from the AB Paterson College .

Going to put on a free show for the residents, unfortunately I have a previous booking but will take some old copies of the ABPA Mag for them to read and meet up tomorrow arvo.

Cheers Bob

What a great bunch of kids they recited many of Banjos poems plus sang Songs like Click go the Shears and My Country set to music.

Still a little bit rigid in their performance but that will develop over time, gave out all my old copies of The mag and had a good talk to the teachers who are trying to instill a love of Banjos and other bush poetry in the students.

This will be an annual trip to Winton to follow the story of Waltzing Matilda so will be better prepared next year. Had some good pics taken but they need to be checked as some students could not be photographed ( sign of the times ) So will post that and a story asap and yes Neil I will get them off to you hopefully before the deadline for the next mag.

The teachers are going to log on and have a look at the site and check out the tips on writing and performance and said they will probably join ABPA so that they can access the mag.

All in all a very successful night and I think I opened a few eyes as to just what performance poetry is all about.

Yes Bob, it's a changing world isn't it. But we have modern day criminals to thank for that! Any group photo that they check and ok will be fine. I was getting the digital blocks ready to block out faces. Geez it improved you and the two Martys!!!

Great that they called in mate, and great to see the kids having fun with Bush Poetry. There are people around who take it far too seriously at times.

Cheers Mate
