Supervision does not mean doing the job Nev. It simply means spot checking to insure all is done as it should be bearing in mind that not everyone is perfect.

There was a book I think it was called " The Minute Manager Meets The Monkey " That is the scenario that you are referring to.

I had 16 supermarkets to supervise and every manager had their own style but had to adapt that to stay within the guidelines set by the company with my assistance.

The sad and glorious truth is that we can't choose to be poets. Poetry must choose us.

Not sure about that Nev I was going through an old usb stick yesterday and found a what I called then a ditty about my old workmates in the car dealership. Would not have called it poetry then and was never interested at school but just loved the old stories that that were around in the banjo and Lawson period the fact that they were put to rhyme did not mean much in those early days.

I wonder a lot, why we give actors and the like so much media time to air their generally radical views, as if we should be guided by them...when they themselves spend their lives portraying someone they are not...

Clive James is a fine poet. As far as I know never an actor. :) Clive James translated the entire epic poem of The Inferno from Italian terza rima into rhyming metred English verse. On that score alone I think he could be considered an authority on poetry. ;)

Apart from that Ross, I think you are right, a lot of people are just famous for being famous, without any special wisdom or knowledge. And I have no special wisdom or knowledge nor am I famous for any reason, but I still give opinions.
