It’s All Passed Me By
I wish I were bigger and stronger and faster.
Of ath - letic feats I was once a grand master.
Now grandkids are telling me I’m a disaster,
‘cause these days it’s all passed me by.
I wish I had fast cars and money to burn.
For big boats and mansions I constantly yearn.
I grew up without ever getting my turn.
What a bugger it’s all passed me by.
I once thought I had a one thirty IQ.
There were so many things that I wanted to do.
But my brain took its leave. Now I don’t have a clue.
Such a shame that it’s all passed me by.
Time was I had vigour to get up and go.
I was bright eyed and bushy tailed; all parts aglow.
Then I noticed libido was starting to slow.
Now even that’s passed me by.
I remember a time when I’d win all the hearts
First to the line in so many close starts
But now I’m just one of the other old farts
Yep! It’s sad how it’s all passed me by.
It arrived all too soon.

G'day Wazza
You've been reading my memoirs again!! Amazing how I've changed from a "slick young chick" to a "grumpy old sheila" in no time at all!!
Loved the poem - it gave my hubby Rod and me a good giggle.
Cheers

Relatable sadly - but hey! We may be old farts, grumpy old farts, or past our use by date in the eyes of others - but inside we still burn with passion, have active minds, still love life and have a healthy curiosity about what makes things work but best of all - we have a wealth of knowledge and we are wordsmiths .....and that my friends, in a day when so many can barely string a sentence together, can't spell to save themselves and are incapable of conversation unless done by text, makes us SPECIAL....So perhaps we should start up a SOFA group, (Special Old Farts Association) which given our age would be most welcome

Thanks Ron, Shelley, Maureen and sorry it took so long to say so. Yep no escape but with a cold beer, a sense of humour and a couple of panadol occasionally it's not all that bad. I like the idea of a sofa group. Very clever Maureen.

Yes, very relatable, Wazza, and written in a most amusing way. You are so right in that we need to maintain a sense of humour at all times!
