MIGHT AND MAIN … Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet
Tony’s arrogance cost him dear
and cost our country too I fear
but now a new bloke’s set to steer
the proud ship of Australia.
Let's hope that Malcolm gets it right
if not we’ll all bemoan his plight
and wail and whinge into the night -
another polly failure.
Tall poppies fall fast in this land
we don’t always united stand
and yet we still claim we are grand.
God help us - who will save ya?
We’ve turned the boats back in the past,
incarcerated those who asked
for refuge or, shock and aghast …
a same sex marriage favour.
So this time can we get it right?
Can Malcolm turn us overnight
back to a nation that has might?
A once more proud Australia.

Re: MIGHT AND MAIN
In Australia, Maureen, ( and Britain ) the Prime Minister is just the chairman of the cabinet, not the President or the Fuehrer.
In any case Malcolm has declared the end of " captain's calls ".
Those who think that any Prime Minister could be a messianic figure with salvific, life changing power will always be disappointed, which is a good thing, we don't want an Australian version of Kim Jong Un.

Re: MIGHT AND MAIN
...the biggest problem with the Australian public generally, is that we seem to want personalities to run our country rather than politicians...people think that the government should fix everything...as long as they don't want 'me' to carry any of the load...while I think the change of leader is probably a good strategy as far as vote polling goes, I think they have set themselves a big job...to turn things around in only 12 months is still a big ask...when there is no spare cash and someone is still going to miss out....we'll see....

I think you have it Ross. The American Professor J.P.Moreland has said that for the swinging voter, the make-up person is more important than the speech writer.r.magnay wrote:the biggest problem with the Australian public generally, is that we seem to want personalities to run our country rather than politicians
