Forever and a Day

Post by alongtimegone » Fri Jun 19, 2015 11:11 am

We sat within the quiet;
my dad and me that day.
And I wished that we could sit like this
forever and a day.

He was trying hard to tell me
that he had to go away.
He said, “But I’ll still love you
forever and a day."

"See - your mum and I have spoken
and it’s I who can not stay."
he said, “But I’ll still love you
forever and a day."

I didn’t understand of course
all that he had to say.
But I knew my heart would ache for him
forever and a day.

Sad - You capture a common problem in todays world. I reckon so many kids go through this but is it better for them to have parents who are constantly fighting ? I personally don't think so

The sad reality in so many families in this challenging world.

You've captured the emotion so well, Wazza.

Cheers, Shelley

Children will never understand the reasons why. A decision made in the best interest of the child is never a decision made by a child.

Nicely expressed, Wazza.

Very well captured Wazza - the simplicity of this poem highlights the sadness.

Affecting so many families. Almost the norm these days. Thank you for your comments.
