How about James Blundell ??? James Blundell's family has a history of poets - Peter Blundell Snr. who is James' Dad is a great bush poet and encouraged his kids in bush poetry, performing on stage with James fairly recently. Young Peter - now the Mayor of Stanthorpe has a son who also did well in poetry contests down in that neck of the woods and Peter himself supported Poetry contests in the area. James still has a strong following in the Country Music scene and at one stage James was running for a Parliamentary seat with Bob Katters party.

Is the Queen still in the top job? Or can we choose another Head of State?

I actually thought that Slim Dusty's missus was now the patron. Either way it's a bloody joke. Why do we need a patron for? What do they do? What advancements have been made via a patron?

Just my twenty two bobs worth. It is a meaningless joke.

yes i agree with these past A.B.P.A patrons , which have not attended any general meetings or represented Australian bush poetry in any way. but they seem to get the top job.

Joy McKean is the patron of the ABLA.

Tony Windsor has been the Patron of the ABPA for a lot longer.
As I understand it, he's also the only one we've erver had.

PS. it's an honorary position (no pay)
