Sitting and Lying
I returned from hospital this morning after having a chronically inflamed, stone-packed gall bladder removed on Friday. I was very well looked after, but here is one little reflection on hospital life.
Sitting and Lying
I don’t like to sleep while I sit.
It isn’t my scene. Not a bit.
My dreams are a muddle. They flit.
My brain fills with rubbish and grit.
I like to sleep while I lie.
It’s sweet as a baked apple pie.
My dreams can take off, and then fly.
I wake feeling clear as the sky.

Hope you are on the mend now Stephen. Gall stones are not nice. (I can sleep while I sit...and walk...and.....
)

Thanks, Glenny, alongtimegone.
I was prepared to put up with the pain, but this eagle-eyed medical practitioner knew that turning yellow is not a good sign! (Years or clinical experience, you see…)

There's pain and there's pain, Stephen, and that one is not worth enduring. Isn't it amazing what they can fit through a keyhole these days? Hope all goes well with the recuperation.
Cheers

Well your hat would suit a Chinese 'yella fella' perhaps but having your skin go yellow because of stones is not something that most folks would like quite apart from the pain. Better out than in and good on you spotting the problem and seeking treatment. Who ever would have guessed
Seems you have talent way beyond poing Stephen
Hope you feel much better soon.

Thanks David, Maureen. Yes, I had a great surgeon. When he offered me a second night in hospital post-op, I didn't knock it back! Must be getting soft...

Re: Sitting and Lying
Could be, Bob. Might be worth having an ultrasound. Are your eyes yellow, too? Otherwise, it might just be the carrots. Dark urine and pale stools are a good clue, too. That's probably enough information for now...
