UPDATE: Copper Croc

Post by Glenny Palmer » Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:33 pm

G'daay all.
I have adapted the closing date for entries into The Copper Croc Written Comp. I made it one day later...(postmarked) Monday April 1st as the previous closing date fell on a Sunday. This will give all of you busy bards that one extra weekend to get some inspiration going.

I have also adapted the entry conditions slightly to show this change, & to remind poets to not put their names on the submitted entries. (I love you all but really do not wish to know just who wrote the poems I'm judging... :D )

WILL THOSE KIND FOLK WHO ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND OUR LITTLE 'EVENT' PLEASE CONFIRM WITH ME ASAP SO THAT I KNOW HOW MANY SNAGS TO BUY FOR THE CAMPFIRE? It will be a BYO grog & probably wise to BYO a chair as I have about 30+ locals invited to share in your shenanigans on the Saturday night.

Getting close now....Cheeers, Glenny

g'day,

We will be there, just the two of us. I hope to find inspiration to write something special for the event. I have been thinking about a poem along the lines of 'Kym's Party' if you remember that one. This time though, we will all actually be there, and not just in my dreams.

So keen to finally meet in person. It must be at least 10 years we have been chatting on the 'web'. Maybe Frank Daniel can come up with a date or at least a closer time when we were 'on air' on his site.

Frank was at Yass, looking well but he admits the passing years and the medical conditions have robbed him of some of his quick wittedness. He did well to remember names... even Waynes. And got very close to the end of his chosen poem .. but as we all do from time to time.. lost the end. He closed with an ad lib ending - causing great laughter and applause from the crowd. He is still a great ambassador for Bush Poetry.

Two people but only one snag in a swag. I'm a vego (which I find hard to admit in a beef town like Charters Towers) but will bring my own something to cook up.

Keep caring

HI Glenny
Monday 1st is Easter Monday - can't post anything that day.
Any chance it could be tuesday 2nd April? Please, pretty please?!?!?!?!?
Or can we email them before the closing date, and post the money on tuesday?
I have been snowed under with study and work this last week, and haven't got anything sent off.
thanks
IRene

Hey IRene. I've gotta do something about my brain cells. That will be ok love.

Croc has been in hospital for a few days. He wasn't at all well + I had to get a hospital bed into the house etc etc...and...supposedly have a bit of a rest for me. Trouble is the hospital is across the road from home, so I've been over there more than here. (entertaining the oldies who live there) I'm off to ''negotiate'' a further half day ''off'' so that I do get some rest....pray for me.

Hey guess what??? We have received over 100 written entries so far. What a bonza mob you all are.

xx Glenny

Give croc a hello call from me - do hope he is feeling better, and as for you missy you best go get some rest yourself so that you can don your tights and fluffy tail and big pink ears and hop over to the hospital with your basket of eggs and put a smile onto the old crocs dial

Not the easiets thing to do under the present circumstances but do hope you have a nice Easter.

100 entries - that's not to bad is it.

Cheers

Maureen

You are such a cak Maureen... Me in tights...? :? All is well....now. ''Somebody'' escaped from hospital & fell through my front door begging for his puffer. Well, that's back over at the hospital, eh, so off we go back there Mister! Pronto. (The nurses knew he couldn't be too far away....the poor girls.) However I had managed a 2 hr snooze before he got me....thank the good Lord (& my 'do NOT disturb' signs on the front & back doors.) I'll bring him home tomorrow & he'll have a good hospital bed here to help him sleep. Ever onward! Never a dull moment.

G'daay All,
What a bonza mob....we received 129 written entries into The Copper Croc! Thank you all so much.

I'm just getting a tad worried about how many of 'the best poet wags in Australia' (my particular brag to all the eager locals) are actually coming along........ :? Would love to hear a yay or nay from you. :D

(and a cardigan) as I have about 30+ locals invited to share in your shenanigans on the Saturday night.

Croc is hanging in there despite some pretty rough days. His speech is almost gone so I gave him a pad & fat pen....upon which he wrote, ''the nurse laughed at my skinny legs & said she could run faster than I could walk!!'' (I was sorta hoping for ''You are just wonderful...'...oh well...) I asked if he told her to go to blazes & got a vigorous response to the affirmative. I think he's pretty excited about the upcoming event, so thank you all for your encouragement.
