Kids doing Poetry

Post by Bob Pacey » Wed Aug 22, 2012 5:39 pm

Wow just did a half hour presentation to around 500 students at St Brendans college in Yeppoon. For Book week.

Got a very good reaction from both students and teachers and gave away all my old copies of the Mag.

Keep planting the seeds and somethings is sure to grow.

Cheers Bob.

Good on you Bob - you are a star - keep nurturing those little oak trees

Thanks Maureen got a good report from both my grandsons who were in the audience, so looking good at the moment.

I have referred them to the website for writing tips.

Great news Bob, well done eh!.....my grandaughter took my book to school some time ago & her teacher still has it & reads a poem to the class every now & then, another teacher here in Cairns bought my book & does the same thing, only recently she informed me the class decided to use one of my poems about our long gone Border Collie in a project they did about the movie Red Dog, they used my poem to 'finish off' their project..... :D

Why do you ask Kimo Sabi. ?
Thanks for the sensible response quoted above.

Forgetting the details of the lead up to my question,
I have been approached to 'do' some poetry at a seven pupil school in that neck of the woods.
I indicated nothing would please me more.
However, my inabilties may preclude it.

I am in correspondence ( email&ausmail ), having sent three items to establish suitability.
As their needs and wants firm up, perhaps a nearby member could satisfy the need more promptly than I ?

Have you never watched the Lone Ranger Jim ?

Tonto always said Kimo Sabi.

Really depends on what they want Jim, and what age group, there were a lot of good tips in the last magazine ?

I sure do recall Tonto from my Saturday dedication to the 'arvo' matinee pictures performance.
No, it was not a reference to that.

I'm not sure why it seems so difficult for someone to indicate a proximity, given all the good words which appear in our mag. and other threads.
As you say - lets see what develops.
