Owww, now I am going to have to play a chess game where we aim for checkbuddy, the people in gaol will be inpersons instead of inmates, the pornography industry will have to display playthings instead of playmates, further disturbing the feminists.

The officer on the Navy ship will have to be First Bloke, and when our political opposing sides come to an impasse it will have to be a stalepal instead of a stalemate I guess.
Climate change should become cliperson change so as to be properly inclusive. We will no longer estimate distances but estibuddy them, and our friend the primate will be somewhat disconcerted to find that he/ she is now a pribuddy.

And when a couple have the urge to be intimate, well...intirealgoodfriends doesn't quite
resonate.

....orr Stephen...I am very dissapointed....I thought we were mates!....I have to agree with Bill and Marty, "Buddy" has exactly the same meanings as "Mate" just in a different language.. as for being gender specific...well mate used to mean male friend, or of course the other meaning which includes both genders, but now it is not so gender specific I believe and it is quite acceptable to call any mate....mate....hey mate?.... 8-)

Groan...I'm going back under my pillow. It's quiet there, and nobody uses the word 'mate' - or if they do, I can't hear it!
