Mildura Walk up Poets Breakfasts

Post by keats » Tue Sep 13, 2011 12:56 pm

Mildura Country Music Festival again hosts walk up Pots Breakfasts from 31st September through to 9th October at the Edge Hotel Buronga. Read or recite, all welcome, big crowds in brilliant venue. 8am to 10am every day. Gets bigger every year. Great chance for Novices to have a go in a big environment with an accepting, no pressure audience of hundreds of poetry fans.

Break a leg Keats. I know you will knock them dead but not so dead they cannot laugh.

Cheers Mate.

A sweet little Festival that one in Mildura ... Probably the best one in the Country as it's an "Indie" festival - NO manipulative corporate bastards in that one ...

Sorry Frank, working over SA and on the iPhone. Bloody spell check. But presumed readers would be intelligent enough to work it out. Flying to Brisbane early tomorrow. Gotta go. Catch up maybe at Tamworth.

Despite irrelevant comments, it is not too late to join in at Mildura. Crowds average out at about 700 people, anyone can get a start at one of the premier walk ups in Australia. If you are close by, drop in. These are the sort of events we try to aim at up and coming poets.

I Heard about this festival on ABC radio.
Pity it is so far away. It sounds like a real good event. Maybe next year...

10 days of breakfasts finished today. Knackered. Record crowds and record poets. Thanks to all who attended, and a big thanks to all the poets who have taken the next step and memorised their work to perform to the capacity crowd. You have done yourselves and poetry proud. Looking forward to an even bigger one next year. Now for a spell before the Christmas season.

Signing off from Mildura 2011

Neil

... heard it was a top week ...

Importantly lots of poets got to "have a go" at the Walkups, WELL DONE NEIL!! ... :D

These shows put on by people like yourself are an important platform for up and coming performers to showcase their craft ...

Good on ya Neil.

Don't ya get a buzz out of seeing new poets get up and have a go, I feel every word and I'm sure they can feel me praying for them.

Still remember the buzz I got from my first time. ( Poetry of Course ).

Keep it going Mate.
