BUSH RAP

Post by Vic Jefferies » Wed Jun 29, 2011 2:18 pm

BUSH RAP.
An old man walked through the bar room door,
looking tired and thin and rather poor,
he paid for a beer and he drank it down
then said that he was a stranger in town.
He asked if I knew where he might find
a bed for the night of the cheaper kind.
Well, I picked him as a decent bloke,
so as I drank me beer and rolled a smoke
I said, “There’s a shack out back that I keep,
for fellows like you who might need to sleep.
It aint no palace, you know what I mean,
but it’s warm and dry and the sheets are clean.
I charge five bucks just to cover the light
and he said,” Son, that sounds just about right.”
He paid his money and he took the key
and he said good night to the bar and me.
After he had gone an old bar fly said,
“Well damn me! I was sure that man was dead!
I met him more than sixty years ago,
you know who that is?” and when I said, “No,”
he said, ”Ever heard of The Overflow?”

Thanks Sue. Glad yo liked it.
Dave I was sort of thinking about putting my baseball cap on backwards, pulling my jeans down so they drag on the ground learning to grunt with a yankee accent, practicing my shuffle and having a go myself. My wife reckons a couple of good stiff Jack Daniels produces the same effect in me so I might try that instead.

G'day all,

Marty, next you will try to tell us that white men can't jump, or sing, or dance. I may agree with you on some counts but Vic has proven you wrong to start with so I don't need to.

G'day Vic, are you (and your lady) planing to go to Major's creek this year?

I have written a rap reply twice, but they keep dropping out on me so I have to give up trrying

I don't care if it is the " genuine " article or not, what a great effort to try something different Vic. Top marks from me.

Gee Whiz! Thanks for all the comments and the information. I didn't really mean this to be taken so seriously. I started out writing the story and it just sort of fell into a rhythm that seemed to me to be something like rap, hence the name.
Couldn't ever see me attempting to perform any sort of "rap" anywhere even after a couple of good stiff Jack Daniels!
Zondrae we wont be going to Major's Creek this year but are seriously thinking about a few other festivals, perhaps in the new year.

G'day Neil.......I can't see anywhere here that made the claim that Vic's approach was original, just something a bit different for a change, amongst our little web-site offerings.
