Kym Eitel's "Jelly Melons"

I performed Kym Eitel's "Jelly Melons" at the Ringwood Folk Club on Tuesday night. I was only reading, not reciting, but it went down very well indeed. The poem sells itself!

I felt good knowing that, in my own small way, I was helping to keep Kym's poem - and legacy - alive.

Margy Mccardle did it out at Ubobo Steve and Janine did Bells In The Mist.

Not much chance of that mate.

Oh the mind boggles when I think of you doing a poem about breasts ?

Good to hear, Bob.

Yes, it is an odd poem for a man to do, isn't it? Still, you don't have to take these things too literally…

Thanks, Neville.

She'd be pleased Stephen, bemused, but pleased.

Good on you Stephan,

Jelly Melons is a beaut poem and gives a lighthearted look at breast cancer.

I had the great pleasure of sharing a 'stage ' with Kym on two occasions. She was an absolutely lovely soul. When I asked her for permission to do 'I'm Sorry Laurie' she said she was always surprised when anyone wanted to do her poems. She didn't think they were all that good. (and said I can do any of her's I liked) I'm not known for writing 'funny' stuff but I don't mind reciting other people's funny poems. (when I have to do funny). And her love of horses is very well known. I will have to check into her books and see if there are any funny horse ones.
