GOSFORD BUSH POETS

GOSFORD BUSH POETS

Good Afternoon Everyone,

What a bobby dazzler of a concert last Wednesday night at the Gosford Bush Poets! Nearly sixty people (including seventeen poets and presenters) turned up to witness what was a stellar performance by our special guest Irish Joe Lynch and to share their poetry, songs and enthusiasm!

Brilliant presentations of some truly great poetry and our resident tenor Nick Lock did us all proud with a wonderful rendition of the traditional Irish song, "The Fields of Athenry" just to make Irish Joe feel at home.

Irish Joe was in devastating form and he thoroughly beguiled, charmed and completely entertained us all with a masterly display of storytelling, poetry and his absolute command of the spoken word. At the end of his performance he received a well deserved standing ovation and I am sure he left us all wanting to hear more. Well done Joe and we hope to see more of you at the GBPs!

Before Irish Joe took command of the microphone we heard from: Brian Bell; Richard Cutler (both of whom traveled from the Blue Mountains;) Norman Allen; Jill Nevile (who reminded us of William Shakespeare's birthday;) June Hilton; Arch Bishop (who traveled from Towamba;) Jan Lock; Monsignor Father Patrick Hartigan (John O'Brien's) cousin Joe Hartigan;
Peter Mace; Ken Tough; Anne Gann; Kathy Smithson; the long absent Bob Wellard; Jack Woodward and our favourite singer, Nick Lock.

It was an incredibly enjoyable evening and one that I am sure many of the newcomers who attended for the first time last night will be talking about for weeks to come.

We do it all again at the amazing Gosford Hotel, Gosford on the last Wednesday night of next month which will be 27 May and we look forward to seeing you then.

Very Best Regards,

Vic Jefferies

Do you find that most who attend also perform Vic ? or do you get others who just attend to be entertained ?

Our group here slowly faded because they all seemed to get bored.

Bob, it is a mixture. Lately it has been a case of many new people turning up and our numbers are growing again.
If you can attract poets they usually bring a partner so you end up with a good crowd.
We started nearly ten years ago with eight people and since then our best crowd has been 101 and our least about twenty.
This month we had about sixty and it was a grand night.
