GOSFORD BUSH POETS

GOSFORD BUSH POETS

Good Morning Everyone,
There were banjos and mouth organs; storytellers and singers; poets, versifiers and loads and loads of fun when the Gosford Bush Poets met last night at their fabled HQs, the wonderful Gosford Hotel. Probably the most eclectic collection of talent we have ever seen at the GBPs and it all went towards making the evening a truly enjoyable event!

It was wonderful to welcome two of the central coasts very talented storytellers, Lindy Mitchell and Megan Pascoe who completely entranced the audience with their amazing tales. Newcomer Lawson Stein, travelled all the way from Webbs Creek to entertain us with his banjo and songs and had us all singing along with his wonderful version of And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. Hurry up and return Lawson. Speaking of travelling, they don't come much better than the intrepid Brian Bell who came down from the Blue Mountains to present some of his poetry and as usual gave us all something to think about.

During the night we heard from Radio 97.3 presenter Chris Kessey; the long absent Fran Bush; storyteller Lindy Mitchell; talented June Hilton; our Technical Director Kevin Gee; my co-pilot Peter Mace; the much travelled Brian Bell;
the accomplished Jan Lock; our banjo mouth organist and singer Lawson Stein; talented Ian Evans; storyteller Megan Pascoe and our resident and all time favourite tenor Nick Lock. 'Twas a grand evening of great talent, friendship and fun.

Remember we will do it all again at 7pm on the last Wednesday night of next month, which will be 29 October, at the fabulous Gosford Hotel and we would dearly love to see you come along with your friends and help us enjoy what is always a great night of good old fashioned fun and friendship. Everyone is welcome, entrance is free and everyone is invited to present their own or their favourite poetry.

Very Best Regards

Vic Jefferies.

PS Our visiting storytellers, Lindy Mitchell and Megan Pascoe run Cafe La Story which is a storytelling night held at The Circle of Life, 8 Henry Parry Drive, East Gosford at 7pm on the last Friday night of every second month and they are inviting people to attend and tell a story or to simply enjoy the talents of the eight regular storytellers. The next meeting will be tomorrow night (26/9) and Lindy and Megan would love to see you. Cost is $10 or free if you.....tell a story! Sounds like a good night to me and I am sorry that we can't be there.

Hey Bob, you have to start your own poetry group! We started eight years ago with eight people and our best night saw in excess of one hundred. There is an old saying, "Everyone has a poem in their bottom draw," and believe me it is true.
Most of the people we have had come along over the years were first timers just looking for some where and some one to share their poetry with.

Did have about four years ago David but as people left the area it all fell back to me to make all the arrangements and everyone seems to have excuses like to far to travel or did not like the area at night .

Just sort of faded away when I moved to Yeppoon.

Sad really .
