Got no doubt you will handle it ok Marty.

They sound like a good cew and mixing with them helps to get rid of those nerves if any.

Good luck Bob.

You will be fine Marty and if you are doing your chicken poem should you also be perhaps practising your Chicken dance. IMO that would add eggstra emphasis to the performance...we don't want you flaggin' at Laggan

Hey Marty B, you should see if you can get a chicken suit like the one on the Chicken Treat Ads.

You’re in for a good time mate, I was M C at our muster a week ago (The W.A Bush Poets and Yarn Spinners) so I got to be in charge of the mic all night, I told a few yarns did a couple of poems introduced all the poets in turn and told lots of lies, It was great fun. :P

TTFN 8-)

G'day Marty ,

You'll slam-dunk it mate. You should have a list of the poems you know (the ones you are really sure of) and then the ones you think you might just be able to get through. (I keep mine tucked in my sleeve or pocket for easy reference) Remember if you are doing original poems, not everyone in the room will know the poems word for word. It's not as scary as doing one of the classics to a full house. Try to pre-script your preambles and practice the intro as well as the poems. It also helps to have someone time you, if you can, otherwise time yourself and write on each poem how long it goes for, including preamble.

When Bob landed me in it, with a solo gig a few weekends back, I was a bit concerned I couldn't fill 40 to 45 minutes. Once I got into the swing (and got the mike working) I filled an hour no trouble. I had my books there within arms length in case I got stuck but didn't need them. (Sold a few too). The crowd showed no sigh of dispersing or even getting restless.

You will breeze through and wonder what you were worried about. Good luck ( But with good preparation you don't need too much luck)

Keep your poems tucked into your shirt sleeve, Zondrae you would look like Charles Atlas.

now Bob,

You know I mean the list of poems, not the whole thing.

I thought I would make a list of all my work in a more or less chronological order. I am up to the end of 2009 and have 280 poems so far, not all master pieces naturally but some are not too bad. I am looking for some to learn for recital, not an easy task.

I find the difference between a two rum and a three rum performance is vast Marty.

Just enough to settle the nerves but not enough that you forget the words ???

Do not knoe how that equates to stubbies mate.

Go for it
