G'day Bob,

Are you being invaded by Ukulele players yet? It seems there is a world wide revival of the Uke. We have 4 different large groups within a 100km radius of Wollongong. I belong to the Swingaleles which is a branch of the Jazz club. We have about 60 players but don't all turn up at the same time.

Better sit down Marty old mate before ya read this . . . Cairns had it's inaugural Ukulele Fest last year and had a crack at the world record for Uke players in one place - they didn't quite break the 851 barrier but tallied a respectable 677. Zondrae is right . . . uke players are taking over the world, they are coming from all over for the 2nd year (July 1, 2 and 3) and are going for 1000.

Sorry to hi-jacked, Bob . . . hope the Rocky do is a good'un.

c'mon Marty,

Aren't you a little jealous? You can't believe what fun it is. One of the best things about the Ukulele is that it makes everyone THINK they can sing.

Marty, I'm with ya mate. Just been to Ray Essery's. He asked can I tune a uke? I said yes, but why? SIMPLY WHY????? Uke players fit somewhere in between Bad Banjo players and amature kazoo blowers!!! It's the pain Marty! I understand your hurt! But perhaps a 1000 of them in one place at the one time.......have you got a gun as well? We can do some good here!

Oh dear,

Another jealous one. I guess they haven't noticed the world wide revival. Ukuleles come in every colour, size and shape you can imagine. One of the Wollongong based groups have160 members and were featured in the local paper just last week. In our area alone there are four groups. I have four different ones now and I think I'm getting a Baratone as well.

.. and Marty you are right everyone can sing.. just some do it better than others.. and others do it better than most.
