VERA NEWSOM POETRY PRIZE 2011

1st Prize $500 2nd Prize $200
This biennial prize honours distinguished poet and educator Vera Newsom (1912-2006), a longstanding member of Youngstreet Poets.
1. Entrants must be Australian residents.
2. Entries must be in English, unpublished (including on-line}, the original work of the entrant, not currently submitted for publication or entered in any other competition, nor to have received a monetary award in another competition.
3 Maximum of 32 lines per poem, typed on A4 paper, one side only. The poet’s name must not appear on the manuscript.
4 There is no official entry form, but a separate cover page must be provided listing title of poem, number of lines, entrant’s full name, address, telephone number and/or email address.
5. Entry $10 per poem, payable by cheque or money order to Youngstreet Poets.
6. Two copies of each poem required.
7 The judges’ decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into. No entries will be returned.
8 Entries to Youngstreet Receiving Officer, PO Box 71, Avalon 2107 by 30th September, 2011. Late entries will not be considered.
9 Winners will be announced as soon as possible. Prizes will be awarded at the Youngstreet Poets’ Christmas luncheon on Friday, 25th November, 2011.
10. Send stamped, self-addressed envelopes for results list.
