I have relinquished my position as 'Spoken Word Coordinator' for the National Folk Festival, handing over to poet and yarn spinner Pete Griffith. Pete is very keen to tackle the job, and has the advantage of living in Canberra.

Pete won the Yarn spinning at the NFF last year, and therefore judged the event this year. He is very keen to lift the event's profile at the festival, and has a number of ideas how to do this. At the moment, it very much plays second fiddle to the reciting.

Every year a particular state is featured at the NFF. This year it was Victoria. Next year it will be Queensland. All Queensland-based reciters and yarn spinners (especially yarn spinners!) who wish to attend the festival next year should contact Pete as soon as possible.

G'day Stephen,

I don't know why Glenny didn't immediately spring to my mind but she is a queenslander and an awarded poet and renowned yarn spinner. I will get in touch with Pete and inform him of her many talents.

Good thinking, Zondrae.
