64 - Timeless

Six zeros in a million,
a life time only two,
so use what time you’re given,
it’s up to me and you.
Here and gone in no time
to work to rest to play,
work life balance is the key
each and every day.

Time is of the essence,
days and nights go slow,
no real sense of urgency,
not a lot to show.
Every week, day in day out,
no two days the same,
people come and people go
to meet and greet and name.

As kids our lives were timeless,
our days were way too short,
trees to climb, traps to set
and most things we were taught.
Christmas so exciting,
seemed so far away,
took too long to come around,
and all left in dismay.

Not a long time to exist,
try to think it through,
if we put our hands to work
so much we can do.
Payment for achievement
has led us to explore,
not satisfied with what we have,
we want it all and more.

Buy now and pay later,
cash upfront ignore
given time on purchase
in each and every store.
Online on time offer,
credit card as cash,
monthly charges, interest,
a never ending splash.

It’s time to pull our horns in,
it’s time to say enough,
gave our all, saw it through,
every day was tough.
Had a crack, it’s time now
to just sit back and wonder,
different time, different place,
way too late to ponder.
