Mother Nature

55 - Mother Nature

Weather unpredictable,
outcomes even worse,
to compete with mother nature,
can throw us in reverse.
Deal with situations,
be quick to pull the brake,
onward ever upward
and learn from our mistakes.

Sound of raindrops on the roof,
so wonderful to hear,
I look in to the sky above,
and drift back through the years.
Heard it on the two way,
it crackled through the air,
Macumba calling, Stuart Creek,
Albert are you there.

George was on the radio
way back in the day,
garden showers are passing,
good rain’s on the way.
Ants were working tirelessly,
from summer into spring,
frogs were croaking in a well
with pelicans on the wing.

The signs and sounds of nature,
to watch and to observe,
lessons learned from country
all to be conserved.
Before the use of satellites
radar or the BOM,
nature gave us warning
to prepare for what’s to come.

Trigger start of ‘74
a record year of rain,
thirty inches average
covered the desert plains.
The rivers all ran bankers,
the inland was oblique,
Lake Eyre overflowing,
flooding at its peak.

Here we are in ‘22
move on 50 years,
rain events of disbelief,
so much lost in tears.
Weather comes in overload
there’s just no rhyme or reason,
heat, drought, fire and floods,
at any time or season.

Weather unpredictable,
outcomes even worse,
to compete with mother nature,
can throw us in reverse.
Deal with situations,
be quick to pull the brake,
onward ever upward
and learn from our mistakes.
