Bureaucracy

44 - Bureaucracy

Bureaucracy in overdrive,
excessive multiplication,
red tape slowing progress,
government administration.
Too many challenges facing
work groups every day,
restricting every move we make
through work rest and play.

I had to turn the telly off,
the story was too sad,
the under dog, working hard,
bureaucracy gone mad.
Fifty years on the job,
a help to me and you,
a regular Aussie Kenny,
sucking’n and pump’n poo.

A heavy handed council
sent in to shut him down,
declared a safety issue
wanted him out of town.
Pencil pushing parasites,
twenty years in class,
safety glasses, shiny shoes,
couldn’t wipe their arse.

Like bulldogs on a bunny,
council swung the axe,
Current Affair got involved,
and presented all the facts.
Commonsense, arrival,
met on neutral ground,
bully tactics, overkill,
council backing down.

A job that’s not done properly
is not worth doing at all,
taught to me when I was young,
my father made the call.
Landscape contract fencing,
110 in the shade,
dress code was insisted,
millennial directive made.

Remove my trusty Akubra,
or don’t step foot on site,
my health and safety challenged,
I stood up to the fight.
60 years experience,
working in the sun,
every day an Akubra,
protection number one.

Safety wasn’t the issue,
headwear now in question,
a hard hat or no entry,
given my direction.
I looked the millennial over,
I looked him in the eye,
told him, see ya later,
he stood there wondering why.

Bureaucracy in overdrive,
excessive multiplication,
red tape slowing progress,
government administration.
Too many challenges facing
work groups every day,
restricting every move we make
through work rest and play.
