Curdimurka Swim Through

36- Curdimurka Swim Through

19 hundred and 86,
salt flats under the stars,
people came in numbers,
with tents, swags and cars.
Black tie in the outback,
The Curdimurka Ball,
every year the numbers grew,
enjoyed by one and all.

The ball was reinvented,
In twenty twenty two,
preparation, Clayton Station,
for members past and new.
The Curdi got all Murki,
predicted forecast rain,
Marree on the bitumen,
the racetrack on the plain.

Artists on arrival,
patrons on their way,
more rain was the forecast,
later in the day.
People down in numbers,
those that came were camped,
heavens again broke open,
the show now pretty damp.

The rain set in to general,
the patrons in dismay,
black ties worn with rubber boots,
the dress code of the day.
Curdi now a swim through,
activate plan B,
mud’n slop and PARTY,
for all those left to see.

Day two saw the sun shine,
and spirits lifting high,
wind was drying up the mud,
a clear and deep blue sky.
Stage and sound all ready,
the show was under way,
bums on seats for miles,
the bands began to play.

Music in the outback,
there’s nothing to compare,
smiles on dials, tapping feet,
and people everywhere.
The show kicked in to overdrive,
a sight and sound for all,
a weekend to remember,
The Curdimurka Ball.
