Minyip, (ashes, camping place),
Jenny, Sue and Bill,
150 years, to celebrate,
birth place, Aunty Lil.
Known as Coopers Crossing,
many saw and came,
put the township on the map,
Flying Doctors’ fame.

A welcome back to country,
so much to learn and know,
of Minyip and its history,
to plan, reap and sow.
Coopers Crossing Garage,
Commercial Pub to go,
synonyms to the township,
Flying Doctors’ show.

Andrew McFarlane, actor,
starred as Dr Tom,
Emma, Sam and Sister Kate,
all 9 seasons strong.
The Majestic Pub, the Buckleys,
known as Vic and Nance,
held the show together,
with humour and romance.

The Hignett kids migrating,
on a journey back through time,
tracing distant footsteps,
of their past, in present mind.
Photographs in black and white,
memories to explore,
a house to find and business,
their parents had, and more.

Heartland of the wheat belt,
Lutheran church in view,
service centre established,
in 1872.
RSL to visit,
diggers gone before,
those who served and lost their lives,
in past and present war.

150 years to celebrate,
Minyip standing strong,
a muster in the Wimmera,
with laughter, beer and song.
The township standing proudly,
has stood the test of time,
people are but passengers,
to view what’s left behind.
