33 - Up and At’em

Read to me at story time,
stuck with me for life,
three pigs woke up early,
it kept them out of strife.
If you want the apples,
you have to plan ahead,
if you want to get it done,
you have to leave your bed.

Easiest job I ever had,
was drifting off to sleep,
told to lie and close my eyes,
and think of counting sheep.
Maths at school, a failure,
couldn’t count past ten,
I’d get past six, maybe eight,
and fall asleep again.

It came to me as a youngster,
I had to put things right,
sheep can still be counted,
and sleeping was for night.
So, up and at’em early,
has stuck with me for life,
breakfast done and ready,
before the East turns bright.

Working early mornings,
sunshine making hay,
air is clear as crystal,
best time of the day.
Hour a day converted,
an extra day a week,
added to a working life,
mind boggles as I speak.

Life today, start and stop,
all controlled by time,
chips updated over night,
good help hard to find.
Mental stress, exhaustion,
graduates all in line,
education overload,
jobs are in decline.

So let’s all work together,
and let’s just all agree,
a journey to success in life,
doesn’t come for free.
Mindset back to reset,
throw your clocks away,
kick yourselves out of your bed,
and gain an hour a day.
