BLUE ON BLUE

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Mon Aug 19, 2019 1:49 pm

BLUE ON BLUE ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet

Give me a backside in jeans blue or faded -
perched on a fence or up riding a horse.
Show me a wrangler butt. I'm not jaded,
I perve on the blokes as a matter of course.
Belts with big buckles so bright and so shiny,
boots that are scuffed with a covering of dust,
pocket knives sheathed in worn dark sweat-stained leather,
are par for the course here and really a must .

Give me a western shirt, faded and well worn
with rolled up sleeves showing strong forearms so brown,
or muscles exposed by a blue Jackie Howe, torn
by some stroppy ram as the bloke held him down
at shearing time, wielding the shears as the first blow
was struck down the throat to expose the wool, cream
coloured and crimped - like the surf on the ocean.
It's tensile strength good and quality supreme.

Don't show me butts that wear their jeans a'saggin'
like little boys trousers and socks that fall down.
Don't show me blokes with pants that are a'draggin'
they give me an urge to run them out of town.
No one I know feels the need to observe
the brand name of blokes undies or colour by heck.
Pull your pants up mate and try and look manly.
Perhaps then folks might treat you with some respect.

Fashions are changing and the world keeps turning,
and each generation thinks of something new
to shock and annoy the adults in society
they're really no different to us - me and you.
But one thing's for sure, across all generations
and oceans and countries - in each different clime,
a butt that's encased in tight jeans of blue denim
holds instant attraction - through decades of time.

And hats? Let me tell you ain't nobody looking
at hats I assure you - no manly chapeau
will attract the ladies as much as blue denim
does, where it fits tightly. I know. Oh I know!! (sigh)
But hats are OK if the brand is Akubra
and not little boys hats with peaks the wrong way.
A hat like a bloke can be battered and weathered
but blue on blue denim will always hold sway.

Hi Maureen

I guess that's fair enough, us blokes have a thing they reckon about Boobs and legs.
so why shouldn't you sheila's have a thing about Butts - not too sure mine would cause much excitement though.

Cheers

Terry

I'm with you, Maureen - those sagging jeans are a ghastly sight - need to be nice and tight!...But it's those rolled up sleeves showing strong forearms so brown, that I like the best!

It is the ongoing battle of the sexes I suspect  My Dad was a 'legs' man Terry ... He always claimed my Mum had the loveliest legs and you know what she did, even in her 90's they were pretty darn good. But Catherine and I  well our fancy flies to other things.
