WHAT WILL WE DO TOMORROW? ... Maureen Clifford © The ScribblyBark Poet

What will we do tomorrow if tomorrow never comes?
What will I do tomorrow with my heart?
What will I do tomorrow if I don't see you again?
For tomorrow's far too late to make a start.
What will the world tomorrow do if the sun doesn’t shine
or the moon at night don't cast a silver glow?
If the stars in heaven never shine their lights on us again.
What will we do? I really want to know

What will we do pray tell me, if we never see a child
gaze with innocent love from their sparkling eyes?
What will we do if we don't feel the warmth and love again
from one for whom we care and idolize?
What will we do if all the things we love the most are lost
and the meaning of our lives is indistinct?
What will we do tomorrow if tomorrow never comes?
Perhaps the time is now to stop and think.

Don't waste a single minute, each one's precious, comes but once.
Is unfinished business causing you dismay?
Well simplify your life. Don't let disquiet cause you distress.
Tidy up your desk and clear your 'In file ' tray.
Make peace now with your enemies if enemies you have
and tell your friends it's nice to have them near.
Then tell your loved ones they are loved, don't presume that they know
for perhaps those three small words they long to hear.

Take time to say “G'day” to other people that you meet
though they be neither neighbour, kin or friend.
A stranger's just a new friend, one that you haven't yet met
but one you'll come to value in the end.
So pat the dog, cuddle the cat and give the horse a scratch,
be gentle with the animals you meet.
Leave nothing here but footprints as you travel Mother Earth.
Be kind. Show courtesy and be discreet.

What will we do tomorrow if tomorrow never comes?
Perhaps we'd better plan for it today.
For tomorrow's far too late if tomorrow never comes.
To say the words, your heart knows you should say.
