Still having problems with my doona...(at least it makes a change from my tent).

Striking a Deal with my Doona

I had some stern words with my doona.
“Where did you go to last night?
I woke up at four
With a chill to my core.
You should keep me warm. It’s not right.

“Your job is to keep me well covered,
To make sure my body stays warm
Through the cool of the dark,
Not head off on some lark.
To slide off like that is poor form.”

My doona replied, “I am sorry.
You have every right to complain,
But I soak up your heat
And I get itchy feet.
It’s terribly hard to explain.

“I lie every day in your bedroom,
While you spend the hours at school.
The daytime I fill
Lying totally still,
For the sheets and the mattress are cool.

“Then you go to bed in the evening,
And I absorb some of your heat.
I shudder and stir.
It’s a bit of a blur,
But soon I am off down the street.

“I never quite know where I’m going.
It’s always a different trip,
But each night is a blast,
From the first to the last,
While you lie there getting your kip.

“Last night I travelled to London.
The night before that was Hong Kong.
Before that, a spree
To Milan and Paree.
Yes, I knew in my heart it was wrong.

“Yes, I knew in my heart it was wicked,
But I seemed in the grip of some power
That whisked me away
Till the light of the day,
Though I thought it would all finish sour.

“But tonight I will make every effort
Not to abandon my post.
I’ll cover your form
So you stay snug and warm,
And I will not fly off to the coast.”

I looked very hard at my doona.
“I had no idea that you flew
Such a way every night.
You can go. It’s all right,
As long as you let me come too!”

Yes, very original indeed Stephen!

I can see I will have to install CCTV to keep a check on my doona’s escapades ... that’s if winter ever comes to Queensland! I haven’t liberated the winter sleepwear from its cupboard yet!

Cheers Shelley

Thanks, Shelley. I just hope my doona never gets to talk to your doona!
