Of Stars and Ships
There’s always a poem to write about stars.
There’s always another one still.
The poems are many as stars themselves -
They’re there for the poet who deeper down delves -
It’s a book that you never can fill.
There’s some that are large and some very small;
Some far, and some very near,
And wise is the captain, when faced with a squall,
And finds in his view there is nothing at all,
Should choose by a poem to steer.
There’s some that are young, and some that are old.
Some giants, and some only dwarves;
And many a tale by an old salt is told
Of times he had only a poem to hold
Down by the salt scented wharves.
There’s always a poem to write about ships.
There’s always another one still
The poems are many as ships are themselves -
They’re there for the poet who deeper down delves -
It’s a book that you never can fill.
